Virtual Environments simplify project management

A python environment is a container for all packages and applications which are required by a python project. By this, the chance of package interference as a result of a massive module library is greatly reduced.

Install virtualenv

Create a virtual environment

Control the environment
Activate the virtualenv with

and deactivate with

When the virtualenv is active, install all modules and packages required with the package manager pip. It’s possible to copy the virtual environment from one Raspberry Pi to another and the python project should run on it as long as all necessary configurations are setup and all device drivers are installed.
