Refreshing the Software of the Raspberry Pi

For getting the best out of the Raspberry Pi, regularly updating the software is recommended. A running internet connection via Ethernet or WiFi is required.

Update Software
Open the terminal and enter

LC_ALL warning
If sudo apt-get -y upgrade caused the generation of a warning containing
locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory
open .bashrc with sudo nano ~/.bashrc and add the line
export LC_ALL=C
at the bottom of it.

Update Firmware

Updating the firmware has caused some issues lately and should therefore only be done when necessary.
