Welcome

Knight of Pi
The easy to learn, highly flexible and powerful programming language Python was named to honour the beloved british comedians Monty Python. I share the enthusiasm for Monty Python, am a big fan of the progamming language Python and love to tinker with the Raspberry Pi; therefore, i became the Knight of Pi, tributing the great movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”:

About the Raspberry Pi
The Raspberry Pi is a single-board computer developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and supports the high-level programming language Python.
Rooted in the highly miniaturized and energy efficient mobile phone technology, the credit-card sized Raspberry Pi works a full blown Linux distribution and supplies a powerful interface for integrated circuits, but still costs only around 40€.
Originally thought as an educational for schools mostly, the first edition of 10.000 pieces sold quickly as pie, leading to 5 million sold devices total in the last three years.
The community of Raspberry Pi enthusiasts and makers generally is huge and growing; the Knight of Pi wants to support the community with special focus on accessibility, learning and programming and motivate new makers to join the fun.

Internet of Things

The Internet of Things could be described as the growing usage and interconnectedness
of intelligent eletronic systems. With its many interfaces, especially the interface for intergrated circuits GPIO(General Purpose Input Output) and the powerful operating system Linux, the Raspberry Pi is an universal adapter in this area.
Different from the big players in the market, home automation systems based on the Raspberry Pi are cheap and fully customizable:
with parts for 70€ including the Raspberry Pi, it’s possible to set up rc-switches controlled with the free voice control application Jasper. Make art projects glow, have an guard in your greenhouse powered by solar, build weather ballons; there are countless possible applications.
