Gnome-disks is perfect for quickly installing Raspbian

Raspbian is a great open source Debian distribution, specifically taylored for the Raspberry. First, download the newest Raspbian distribution.

If gnome-disks is not installed on the host computer so far, execute

Start it with

In the now-open graphical application,

  • click on options(the button with a gear symbol on it) and then on recover image
  • select the image file and start the recovery
  • unmount the SD(important!), eject it and plug it in your Raspberry

Some elementary configuration of Raspbian is required; this is explained in the basic setup guide.
